Samurai Sportswear is delighted to reveal the new OMG ICONIX™ test jerseys for the Samurai Barracudas team, to be debuted at the iPro Sport Super Sevens Series on 7th May.
The home shirt features a bold geographic design with contrasting black and fluro-yellow, providing a warrior-like on-pitch statement.
The away shirt uses bright greens and ambers, to bring a summer feel and to highlight that the season of sevens has begun.
The Samurai Barracudas Invitation 7s team was founded in 2007, initially developed as a feeder team for the Samurai International side. The team consisted of aspiring young players with potential and ambition, players returning from injury or after a drop in form. Athletes would play for the Barracuda’s with confidence, knowing they had the full backing of the Samurai management.
The Barracudas provides players with a genuine opportunity to showcase their talents and progress their 7s careers and because of this, the team has gone from strength to strength.
The Barracudas competed in the 2011 Super Sevens Series, snatching the Series from the British Army at the final leg in Newquay. In the same year Barracudas were victorious at the Bury Premier 7s, Cwmtawe 7s and the Manchester 7s. In 2012 the Barracudas retained their title at the Manchester 7s but were pipped at the post in the Super Sevens series, finishing as runners up by the narrowest of margins to the Templars 7. Since their loss in 2012, Samurai Barracudas have gone on to win the UK Series for 4 consecutive years 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. These victories give the team great confidence and they hope to see even more success this year.
Samurai Sportswear are thrilled to be the official kit suppliers to the Barracudas and look forward to seeing their shirts in action as the iPro Sport Super Sevens Series kicks off in Bury St Edmunds this weekend.
