1ST BATTALION THE YORKSHIRE REGIMENT WIN ARMY PREMIERSHIP CUP

1ST BATTALION THE YORKSHIRE REGIMENT WIN ARMY PREMIERSHIP CUP

SAMURAI want to say a huge congratulations to the 1st Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment on winning the Army Premiership Cup.

The final took place in Aldershot, featuring two tenacious teams battling it out in a nail biting finale. 1st Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment went head to head with rival team 12 Regiment Royal Artillery, each team fighting for their chance to be crowned champions.

A true testament to the players, the weather was callous with undying strong winds and a constant fall of drizzle, making playing conditions more difficult and arduous. Despite this, The Yorks took an early lead, with the end of the first half showing 12 Regt fighting back to close the former's lead of 12-5. The second half proved to be more thrilling than the first, with both sides evenly matched, and thanks to the weather, pushing harder for the victory. As the final minute was called, the scoreboard declared The Yorks triumphant, with the final total 19-17.

From its inception as The Army Cup in 1907, to the re-structured Premiership League Cup in 2006/07, this competition has continued to be a highly regarded institution throughout the years, and with a few exceptions, has been held annually.

SAMURAI want to congratulate The Yorks on their amazing performance, and their worthy win of this historic competition. We are delighted to be their official kit suppliers.
