After a gripping tournament of the Super Sevens Series (SSS), Samurai RFC emerged victorious in the final leg of the series, with both men’s and women’s teams crowned as the overall series champions.
The Super Sevens Series is a semi-professional rugby sevens tournament and was established in 2009, when the first national series was set up. Although the event has seen many changes over the years, the competition remains a non-profit; passionate about sevens rugby and dedicated to encouraging the next generation of players, developing pathways and raising the standard of rugby sevens across the UK. The tournament features 4 legs of the competition, this year hosted in the venues at Newbury RFC, London Irish, Stafford and with the final taking place at the Aldershot Military Base.
During these legs, the Samurai RFC men’s and women’s team faced 22 other squads to battle their way to the cup final, which saw them face Hammerhead 7s in the women’s cup final and Scimitar Storm in the men’s. The two finals proved to be action packed and highly competitive, with both teams giving it their all; resulting in the final scores for the Samurai RFC women’s team as 17 - 7 and revealing the men’s team as returning champions with the final score of 36 - 7.
Working closely with Samurai RFC, our designers have created two striking kits that reflect the collaborative vision of our partnership and that feature the new SAMURAI branding - which Samurai RFC were the first rugby sevens team to sport and represent.
