SAMURAI wants to say a huge congratulations to the French Military Women's Rugby team, who triumphed in the final of the first-ever women’s International Defence Rugby Competition to take home the title.
Throughout a gripping tournament that saw military women’s rugby teams from around the world competing against each other for a chance to snatch title, the French Military Women's Rugby team emerged victorious in the inaugural final against the hosts themselves, the New Zealand Defence Force, in a nail-biting final.
After qualifying for the final with their 6-5 win against Fiji, the French team then faced New Zealand on 25th October in Auckland. By no means an easy game, both teams fought relentlessly for the victory; the months of preparation and training that had led both teams to the final now in play. With the trophy now within their grasp, the French Military Women's Rugby team would not give in, clinching the title with a 9 - 8 win and being crowned inaugural champions.
